Of course, if you simply love the wide 315's in the rear, then by all means have fun and enjoy! I'm just tossing out alternatives that fit my needs so you can think it thru from all angles. Again, if you run spacers in the rear you accomplish the wider stance. You could run 20x9 or 20x10 (which is whats on the front of the factory staggered setup) wheels all around use 275/40R20's or even 275/45R20's if you want a little more sidewall and don't want run-flats (thanks to Pax5 for giving me that option). The other option, as others have mentioned, is a square set-up. I have a post with details on this here: Could have accomplished the same with 20mm or so spacers. Got a little creative using a lower offset rear wheel from the X6 (F16) to push them out a bit under the flares and keep much of the wider stance. A size that's much easier to find when traveling, even if I have to temporarily buy a cheap non-RFT to keep going until I get a matching Michelin.

I switched to 19x9's on BMW factory takeoff wheels with Michelin Latitude Tour HP ZP Run-flats in 255/50R19. Looked at 18's and maybe even bigger tires, but the 18's just looked too small on the X5. We have both alloy and steel wheels in factory sizes, finishes, and designs. Check out our BMW factory wheels catalog where we carry remanufactured and replica options for popular models. Not major off-road, but don't want to be afraid of curbs or fields, etc. Since driving with damaged wheels is not only aesthetically unpleasant but also pretty dangerous, timely replacement is strongly recommended. The 275/40R20's are a bit better but not great. Had to be special ordered and wait a day (if you're lucky) to 3. We live in a relatively big city area like Charlotte, and I couldn't. try finding a 315/35R20 in stock if something happens to a tire while traveling.Having a second set of wheels/tires for Winter would solve this, and essentially that's what I now have.thus maybe I'll toss the staggered 20's back on now and again for fun. Even if there were, I see many posts saying the 315 wide tires are not that good in snow. Sure, if you go non-Run Flat you have a few more choices, but as mentioned, for us we want run-flats. there are not quality All Season Run Flat tires in the 315/35R20 rear tire size.Because we have no spare, and if my wife/kids get a flat somewhere in the boonies or even along the highway, I want them to be able to drive somewhere they feel safe to handle things. have a 3rd row, so there's no spare tire (I'm ignoring the infeasible for us option to put a spare in the rear cargo area and have no room for much else.).I purposefully switched away from staggered 20's for several reasons: I had staggered 20's, and still technically have them in storage in case I decide to run them during a summer we won't be traveling away much and/or to have so I can put it back to stock later when I sell the car.
